Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy (IDP), Ambassador Esti Andayani, opened the Workshop Penhumas, Writing Journalism and Photography Skills in Bandung (27/5/2015). The workshop was attended by over 40 foreign service officers is held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maras, the Museum, and will last for three days.
In the midst of the process of globalization and the rapid development of information technology, the implementation of the tasks and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs RI Representatives abroad takes place in real time conditions.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this case benefited from the more than one hundred representatives of Indonesia who work in different time zones. Portal can be said of working hours is 24 hours a week throughout the year.
"Diplomats are required to run real-time diplomacy for the sake of public accountability and transparency," said Director General of IDP.
Optimization of information and public diplomacy as a means to strengthen the positive image of Indonesia in the international world is the background of the implementation of the workshop.
Resource persons from various backgrounds, ranging from communications agency, newspaper editors, and technical ministries, will equip diplomat Portal with capabilities and synergies communications strategy, as well as technical matters, to be able to disseminate information that is factual, accurate, and fast.
For three days, participants will learn various technical skills, among other techniques journalistic writing, photography, and the use of information technology-based media. Participants will also gain knowledge about the use of social media as a means to strengthen the positive image of Indonesia abroad.
Social media has now become an important part of diplomacy. World leaders and governments utilize social media to convey their thoughts and activities. The ability of social media to disseminate information quickly is the main weapon. But, of course, its use must be in accordance with the rules and norms.
After the workshop, the participants are expected ability to process, analyze, utilize, and disseminate information on the Foreign Ministry and a representative will grow and increase quality.
